| | | APP-UniPath LLC is the largest Pathology Practice in the Rocky Mountain Region, with 25 pathologist physicians and supporting histotechnologists, cytotechnologists, management, and other personnel. Our staff provides laboratory and pathology services to hospitals, clinics, doctor's offices, laboratories, and other facilities along the Front Range of Colorado and beyond.
We are currently recruiting for a Molecular Diagnostics Lab Supervisor. This position is responsible for the direct daily supervision of operations in the Molecular Laboratory. The Molecular Supervisor will implement manager directives with overall section functions; collaborate with manager to measure, assess, and improve performance of all sections; assure a high level of customer satisfaction; and oversee quality control for Molecular, PCR and FISH procedures and equipment. This position performs a variety of supervisory responsibilities, including hiring, training, and managing employee performance in a manner that supports a positive and team-oriented work environment. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 1st shift with probable hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. This is a new position that may require flexible scheduling in order to meet department implementation goals.
Responsibilities:
Provides direct supervision of the Molecular staff including employee selection; department scheduling; staff training; performance management; and monitoring of workflow to ensure appropriate turn around time. Performs all duties associated with a Molecular Technologist and provides technical coverage including participation in assay development and preparation and maintenance of protocols according to company standards. Ensures proper maintenance of laboratory equipment; monitors QC and equipment temperatures; maintains records and procedures for CAP and management requirements. Participates in annual budget development; monitors department expenditures; supervises weekly department supply orders; maintains inventory systems; generates/updates individual analyte/test cost analysis; and recommends capital purchases. Maintains extensive contact and communications with others and must be able to communicate both orally and in writing in small and large group settings with staff, patients and professional colleagues. Assures that proper competency and training documentation is maintained. Maintains instrumentation service agreements and warranties and communicates changes to operations personnel. | Skills/Requirements
| | | Education or Formal Training:
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a clinical laboratory with two (2) years experience in Molecular Diagnostics. Training and documented proficiency as a Medical Technologist (ASCP, NCA), or Masters Degree in Molecular Diagnostics. Certification in Molecular Biology (ASCP or NCA) and/or Supervisor (NCA) or supervisory experience a plus.
Position Specific Knowledge & Skills:
Requires working knowledge of all major functions of the department and ability to perform all molecular tasks without supervision including proficiency in all molecular routine and special techniques. Ability to communicate with staff and management; solve problems; and skill in mentoring and training employees. Familiarity with all Molecular Laboratory equipment with ability to identify and perform equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
